Sandra Gibson BA., RMT. Owner
Sandra is living proof of the healing powers of the treatments offered at Inspire Centre as she stands in her power as a survivor of abuse and trauma.
Through her own healing she understands firsthand how massage therapy coupled with counselling can be an integral part of one’s own healing journey.
As a strong advocate for mental wellness, Sandra works to help break down the barriers and stigma associated with seeking help.
Sandra was introduced into massage quite accidentally in 1987 after moving to Calgary to pursue a career in culinary arts. She enrolled in a relaxation massage course out of curiosity. There was something about giving and receiving massage treatments that made Sandra feel at peace within herself that she could not articulate at that time. Years later, she came to fully understand that massage was her true calling.
Sandra enrolled at U of C, but halfway through her studies, she felt called back to massage therapy. After finishing a degree in Linguistics with a minor in Psychology, Sandra completed her formal therapeutic massage training, graduating with honors from Rocky Mountain Academy of Therapeutic Massage. She has never looked back.
Sandra’s massage career began in 1995 with a focus on rehabilitative treatments in conjunction with a Chiropractor. Since then, Sandra has worked in a variety of settings, along with instructing with the massage program at Mount Royal University. As a life long learner, she has completed numerous advanced courses in massage and is a certified Adult Educator.
The pivotal point in her career was completing advanced training with Dr. Beth Hedva and an esteemed colleague, Terri Collins-English, for working with survivors of abuse. It was during this time that Sandra became aware of the immense benefits massage therapy can have for those ready to heal from trauma and/or abuse, and she began exploring her own healing journey.
Creating an integrated, healing community in a warm welcoming environment has been Sandra’s dream from the start of her massage career over 28 years ago. Growing from a solopreneur home practice to an integrated wellness clinic, and now private practice, Sandra’s focus to relieve stress and trauma through guidance, communication, and the power of touch therapy remains strong. She inspires balance, joy of life, and overall well-being.
